I am 47 and have lived in Yorkshire,
Lancashire and  Essex .
I am an amateur poet but my day job is working with children.
I am inspired by the mystery of both nature and romance and haiku as "the thing half said".

Laughter and sadness mingle -
Strength and ripening

Afternoon at a standstill
Water is silent

Early Morning Haiku

In the still harbour
the quiet seagull dances
melancholy dreams

Drowsy we cuddled
crickets chirped down in the yard

'autumn leaves' by Vivien Steels

I am a poet and artist, who has
been published widely in poetry
presses, on the Internet and in
local exhibitions.  My work is
deeply influenced by the natural
world, which I often use as
symbolism for the spiritual.

Autumn

Leaves fall into stream
rushing from glacier -
blue-white snow mountain.

Tibet

Tucked safely away
from prying eyes of the world,
blanketed by snow.

Night Sky

Sapphires stain night sky,
until morning dawns turquoise
set in golden sun.
