touching heaven
the snow topped mountain
and the church steeple

crickets―
why are you

midnight rain―

At the scheduled station
seasoners that commute
deal with grim-aces

clambering over many years
exhausted endeavors
fall pray to melancholic self-esteem

cold winter winds
in emotionless wedlock
chill weary bones

Born and raised in Ontario Canada. I read a haiku, have grown to love the form. Both haiku and tanka have become my passion.

Hide n' go seek

Afternoon stroll
beneath canopied trees
a memory stirs ―
laughing little boys chant
Ollie Ollie Oxen Free

letters

a sentinel birch
its mottled bark discarded ―
letters to the earth

summer

warm blooded reptile
squeezes out its prey ―
winter is devoured
